A trip to Europe is always an exciting adventure, but the journey itself can be exhausting if you are not well-prepared. A long trip with hours on a plane, or many lay-overs while traveling can cause disruption in your sleep and rest. That´s why I ALWAYS pack these essentials first (not to forget them) for any international flight I take for my travels and even for short trips too!

I find when I bring these items, it helps makes travelling more relaxing and then I can enjoy my trip more when I get to my destination!

Long-haul flights are a lot of hours in a confided space and discomfort, fatigue, and dehydration can quickly set in, unless I am prepared! .
Whether you are traveling for business, leisure, or study, bringing the right essentials can make all the difference.

Here are my must-have ESSENTIAL items to ensure a smooth and comfortable flight, rested travels and an enjoyable trip to Europe.

Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Long-haul flights can be noisy, with crying babies, chatty passengers, and the constant hum of the airplane engine. To block out unwanted noise and make the trip more enjoyable, I always  pack noise-cancelling headphones for my travels, ensuring a quiet, peaceful trip! .

Noise-cancelling headphones became a  a game-changer for me, as I am a frequent traveller and I do not like any distractions while I try to read, sleep or relax on a flight. The headphone fit snuggly and they reduce background noise, allowing for enjoying in-flight entertainment, music, or podcasts without distraction.

I use these also when studying, walking the dog and basically for daily life needs, so it is not just for when I travel and take trips!

Pairing these headphones with an eye mask on my flight further enhances my rest as I can escape the usual flight noise and sleep, allowing for me to be super rested at ,y destination and ready to go! Last thing I want to do is have to go to the hotel first to sleep to get ready for the day and then the day is almost gone!
Plus, they are great if you are using an app in a museum to hear the audio guide!

The ones I use can easily be found on Amazon following this link:

They come in different colours and the battery life is 60 hours, so I can go a long time without having to recharge them, a travel bonus!

Another ESSENTIAL is a travel pillow and blanket

Picture
How many times have you gotten on a flight expecting a pillow and blanket and they "ran out"? Or for the shorter flights, they don´t even offer them? I always arrive prepared for my trip with a travel blanket and travel pillow for my trip, knowing I will be comfortable no matter what! Please I feel it´s more hygienic if I bring my own, new, pillow and blanket.

Sometimes when I book my flight, in getting the best travel deal for my trip, I overlook the major detail of seat comfort and I am stuck in economy with not much space, So to help with that discomfort, having a new travel blanket that is comfortable and cosy helps so much, as well as a comfortable. soft pillow.

One of the biggest challenges of a long-haul flight is finding a way to sleep comfortably. Airplane seats, especially in economy class, are not designed for restful sleep, making a travel pillow and blanket essential.

A good travel pillow provides support for the neck and head, reducing the risk of stiffness and discomfort. Memory foam pillows, like this one,  are popular for their ergonomic design, while inflatable options save space in your carry-on. A properly designed pillow can help travellers fall asleep faster and wake up feeling more refreshed.

Airplane cabins tend to be cold, and while airlines provide blankets, they are often thin and may not always be available. A lightweight yet warm travel blanket ensures comfort throughout the journey. Some travelers prefer using a large scarf or pashmina, which can double as a stylish accessory upon arrival in Europe, but in summer I usually dont travel with scarves on my trip.

By bringing a pillow and blanket, you increase your chances of getting much-needed rest during the flight, ensuring you arrive in Europe ready to explore.

A travel hack that I also do is if I don't want to carry a blanket and pillow around Europe I leave them at my first hotel and pre-buy another blanket and pillow on Amazon and send to my last hotel so its ready to go for my flight back!
This cute pillow and blanket are only about $28 dollars, so it doesn't really dent my budget either!

Here's the Amazon link for the blanket and pillow, plus it comes in different fun colours!

Refillable Water Bottle

Another travel ESSENTIAL for me to bring on a flight when I take a trip and travel, is a reusable thermal water bottle! I can get so dehydrated on the plane and there is only so many times that the flight attendants bring by water cups, which are kind of small anyhow.

I bring this refillable water bottle so I can just pop back to the flight attendants station and ask for a full refill, which they are happy to do and bring it back to my seat. This also means I have a good supply of water on the flight, not to get dehydrated, which is also good for my skin! Plus, I don´t have to keep disturbing my seat neighbours to climb over them to go get a cup of water. I have enough water for a good portion of the flight!

I also really like this bottle because it has a lock on it, which prevent spillage and leeks. I can then use this bottle throughout Europe, which is super helpful becuase in Europe its not really customary to carry around water bottles, so it is harder to find one I like when I am there.

Hydration is one of the most overlooked aspects of air travel. The low humidity levels in airplane cabins can cause dehydration, leading to dry skin, headaches, and fatigue. Having this reusable water bottle is a simple yet effective way to stay hydrated throughout your trip.

Plus many airports have water refill stations, allowing travellers to fill up their bottles after passing security (do not forget to empty your bottle before going through security!).

Since airline beverage service is limited, having your own water supply ensures you can drink whenever you need to. Choosing an insulated bottle can also help keep water cool for longer flights, and cool whille walking around Europe in the heat!

Drinking enough water during a long-haul flight is essential for preventing jet lag, keeping your energy levels up, and reducing the effects of dry cabin air. Pairing proper hydration with a good skincare routine, including a hydrating facial mist and lip balm, can help travelers feel refreshed when they land in Europe.

I love this water bottle, I have carried it all over Europe on my travels and continue to use it at home, walking around in Barcelona (where I live) and I just throw it in the dishwasher and its like new!

Here is the link where I bought mine on Amazon for about $26:

Another ESSENTIAL travel item I rbing on my trips, especial to and from Europe, are compression socls!

COMPRESSION SOCKS

Picture
When preparing for a long-haul trip to Europe, most travelers focus on packing comfortable clothing, entertainment, and snacks. However, one often-overlooked travel tip is wearing compression socks.

These socks provide numerous health benefits, making them an essential item for any long flight.

Sitting for extended periods while traveling on a plane, can lead to poor circulation, causing swollen feet and legs. In more serious cases, it increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which is a condition where blood clots form in the legs due to prolonged inactivity. Compression socks help prevent this by applying gentle pressure to the legs, improving blood flow and reducing swelling.

Another benefit of compression socks is increased comfort. Many travelers experience leg fatigue or aching muscles after sitting for hours. These socks provide support, reducing discomfort and making the journey more pleasant. They are especially helpful for those with varicose veins or circulation issues. They are also great for those of us that work out a lot and our muscles on our legs get sore!

For anyone planning a trip to Europe, adding compression socks to the packing list is a smart move. They are a simple, affordable way to stay comfortable, reduce health risks, and ensure that you arrive at your destination feeling refreshed and ready to explore!

I also love the style of these, they are so cute and unisex! So they are the not typical black ones that feel kind of grandparents of style, but they are fashionable and stylish, while helping with my circulation on a long haul flight!

You can grab these on Amazon, they come in so many different styles, they are unisex and only around $9! Here is the link for them on Amazon;

I hope these packing travel tips help you to have an enjoyable and relaxing trip to Europe or wherever you be heading!
